AWG is an abbreviation for American Wire Gauge, a UL standard for wires that are circular in cross-section and are solid, nonferrous metals and electrical conductors. It is used as an indicator of the thickness of a wire conductor and is described as ""AWG 00 (00 is a number or symbol). The larger the number, the smaller the diameter.
